Quilting has been an important part of my life for over 70 years. I made quilts with my mother, quilts of necessity. I made quilts for my family and friends, quilts of love and celebration. As an adult, I became driven by advanced techniques and patterns and was influenced by master quilters like Jinny Beyer. After I retired in 2008 from a career in IT communications and education, I had the time to expand my traditional quilting skills into modern designs. From there, I began exploring many fiber art techniques and for the last ten years I have enjoyed designing most of my pieces. Color, texture, nature, geometry, and yes, even math, have been the main foundation elements in my recent work. But no matter the material, no matter the design, no matter the quality of workmanship, the success of each piece is always the joy of the process.

Micah Goguen grew up in Central Georgia and obtained his Bachelors in Art and Art History and his Masters in Art Therapy from Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville. Micah continued studies in figure drawing and painting at Kennesaw University and lived in the Atlanta area for 7 years producing and showing art at local venues. Residing currently in Macon, Ga., Micah focuses primarily on bringing art to the community and using art as a form of communication for those struggling to understand and cope with life situations. Goguen is a Certified GOLDEN Working Artist and an Ampersand Artist Ambassador.

Stationed primarily at The Perry Art Center in Perry, Ga. and Middle Georgia Art Association in Macon, Ga. , Goguen produces work while teaching art to both adults and children. He also volunteers time at the local community center and works with adults in alcohol and substance recovery as well as uprooted and traumatized children. Goguen also teaches a variety of classes at Kudzu Art Zone in Norcross, Ga. and leads workshops in the Southeast United States.  Using mural work, art for entertainment and art therapy for healing, Goguen collaborates with school systems, local shops, and non-profits to help unify and most importantly “spread a message”.

Micah’s own artwork conveys his interest in people as he uses oil paints to mostly create expressive portraits. Bold color choices and organic movement signify his style and you can most often expect a large confrontational composition that forces the viewer to take notice and interact. Micah works in a range of media and teaches workshops in Oil and Acrylic Painting, Ceramics, Textiles and Drawing. He is working on several mural projects and also founded a group of artists which hang and display art in privately owned local businesses.  Goguen teaches about 50 students atelier style in weekly classes in the Middle Georgia Area. The overall vision is to focus and rededicate back to a buy local, shop local mentality that strengthens community through unity and purpose.

There are several sources of inspiration. One is the glass itself, as I look to show off its inherent qualities to their best advantage. Sometimes it is an image, which I look to glass to enhance. Other times it is nature, as I strive to capture a moment, I have experienced that has touched me. Always it is the light in glass that inspires, whether it be the transparency or reflections, the depth, dimensions or color. I strive to give life to the glass.

Suzanne DesLauriers was born in North Carolina, but spent most of her early years in Brazil. She remembers the bright greens and reds of the lush tropical plants against a lemon
yellow sun and a bright, clear cobalt sky. This same color sensibility permeated her soul and has accompanied her through her years as an artist and an educator. She remembers her first trip back up into the Blue Ridge mountains and how the light on that late September day
played sideways through the trees over the ridge casting one beautiful shadow after another against yellow green fields and a clear blue sky. Her passion for Winslow Homer and N.C. Wyeth and their clear crisp use of color found a home here in the mountains of North Carolina.
Suzanne received a BA in fine arts from Florida Southern College and an MA in art education from the University of South Carolina. She loves helping her students "unlock the artist within"; and because of this passion she received the 1996 Western N.C. Creative Teacher of the Year award, was the 1999-2000 North Carolina Secondary Art Teacher of the Year, and was listed in Who's Who of American Women, Who's Who in America for 2004-2009, and Who's Who in the World 2009. She has exhibited in galleries in Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, and North Carolina.
She enjoys teaching at John C Campbell Folk School, NC; The Blue Ridge Moutains Art Center, GA; in Port Clyde, Maine and at Edisto Island, SC.
Her work has been on four covers of the John Campbell Folk School Catalog and is on the cover of the New John C Campbell Cook book.
